Why use responsive email design?
It’s a simple question, with a simple answer….. 47% of emails are now opened on mobile devices, according to a study of over 250 million opens worldwide by email analytics providers Litmus. That statistic speaks volumes not only about mobile device adoption, but also about how comfortable we’ve become consuming email on the go.
If I’m honest I’d prefer that people opened my email campaigns on a mobile, simply because mobile devices like the iPhone iOS email client will download the emails images without having to click anything. Animated Gif’s also work without any issues on a mobile. Unlike outlook which can’t handle Gif’s.
It’s a natural progression then that users expect email campaigns to evolve, just as websites have with responsive designs. Marketers, developers and designers have already begun building the path towards better experiences for mobile email users.
